Director Statement
The Madness in the Grooves represents the meeting of my two biggest personal interests: the world of physical media collecting and the mind-altering cosmic horror of author H.P. Lovecraft. There are plenty of colorful characters in the record collecting community that I thought could fill the void I always felt in Lovecraft’s fiction: the human element. Clark and his customers are the kind of people I’ve come across in the moldy little basement corners of antique stores and the muggy blacktops of flea markets. The relatability and humor create an interesting contrast with the cosmic horror.
