Director Biography - Guillermo Cabot

Since my childhood I have cultivated my two passions: cinema and music in a totally amateur way and with no other pretensions than to enjoy them like any other person. In a late vocational call, at the age of 44, I launched myself into writing my first feature film script: "El medio hombre que salvó un imperio" which was selected in the MadridCreaLab program of 2018 managed by the ECAM and the Consejería de Cultura de la CAM (Madrid Regional Government). The script finally derives in an ambitious miniseries project that is recently selected in the 2021 CAM grants for the development of series and is currently under development.

In these three short years of cinematographic career I made my debut in the short film world with the writing and directing of "DeMente", work that accumulates to date a total of 20 selections and 4 awards at international film festivals and I also direct at the beginning of 2021 my second short film "Habibi", whose post-production has recently finished and now begins its journey in the festival circuit.

Director Statement

DeMented is my first work behind the camera and I wanted to create something which was closer to realism than fantasy or terror. In a very small space and with very limited resources we tried to create an atmosphere in which the impossible would be possible.
